It's the practice of it that bothers me.

Like you say, Benge is going to be killed because nobody cares about him, other than his lawyers and family. Charles Manson still lives and gets marriage proposals.

Interesting that lawyers and family don't count for the convicted, but they do for the victim.

This says more about us than it does about anything else. Arbitrary and capricious, sure. Also shallow. Low. Mean. Stupid? What?
A m...18 years?! What are they, nuts? Stupid? What?

A man kills someone for whatever reason. It's an ugly crime, okay. The family wants him dead, fine. I can understand that as well. I'd likely want him to die by slow torture if it were my family he killed. But to screw around for 18 years to get to the execution? That's just plain wrong.

First off, let me explain that I'm a nasty, vindictive sort of fellow where certain things are concerned. Anyone who puts their hand on my Main Lady is asking for a broken arm, and if you even look funny at Mom I'll tie you to the pick up and drag you over 140 miles of bad road at five miles an hour. All that being the case, I still think anything over six days on death row is cruel and unusual punishment. If you're going to kill the criminal, do it and have done. And, since the government can't seem to do that, give them life without possibility of parole, which I consider to be a more severe punishment anyway.

18 years? Right... this is our brilliant legislature in action. What a bunch of clowns.Mad Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06190137186843630543noreply@blogger.com
