There's been perhaps too much talk about justice and injustice in the criminal defense blawgosphere in the past few weeks. (I'm not providing links to the overwrought discussions. If you want to catch up, you should be able to find the posts without much trouble.)
But I want to offer this snippet, from a talk the brilliant and inspiring Bryan Stevenson gave this evening at a death penalty seminar I'm attending.
Injustice is where hopelessness prevails.
That's about as pure a statement as I can think of. And it's right. There may be other places/forms of injustice. But that's damn sure one of them.
