Standing up in Phoenicia

Lawyers like to say that Dick the Butcher's famous line from Shakespeare's Henry VI, Part 2
The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers
is really a mark of the importance of lawyers in maintaining order against chaos and anarchy. Seth Finkelstein demonstrates, that's not entirely clear. But we do have a role in this system. We have the obligation, and a means, of standing up to those who would destroy the Constitution and trample on the rights of the people.

So right after I put up the post that says someone has to do something, I see that Brian Tannenbaum has the news that someone is trying.

And it's the lawyers. Here's the meat of a letter Brian got from a Maricopa lawyer.
On Monday, December 21, 2009, at 12:15 p.m., I would like to rally as many people as we can to the patio in front of the Central Court Building to protest the illegitimate, despicable, and cowardly actions of Andy Thomas and to demand that he be suspended from the State Bar of Arizona.
Here's hoping some folks show up. As Brian says, "We'll be watching."
